Johanna Ennser-Kananen

I am Johanna Ennser-Kananen and I work as an Academy Research Fellow at the Language and Communications Department of the University of Jyväskylä.

In my current research, I examine the intersections of language, knowledge, and racialization at schools. For instance, I am interested in what and whose knowledge counts, how that is negotiated, and what opportunities for epistemic justice and disobedience exist. Although that’s my main project right now, all things related to language, learning, and social justice are interesting to me.

Within ETMU, I am honored and humbled to take on the role of the chair in 2021 and do my part to make sure ETMU becomes and remains a relevant, (self-)critical voice of social justice in society and the academy.
