My name is Päivi Pirkkalainen and I work as a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy in the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
Over the past years I have worked on topics related to migrant associations, social movements, diaspora relations and migrant youth political participation. Currently, I am involved in a project “Deportation in a mediated society”, led by Dr. Karina Horsti, in which we study how deportations affect the communities in Finland.
In my freetime I enjoy countryside life at our summercottage.
