I am Angel Iglesias Ortiz. I am affiliated as postdoctoral researcher at Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI) and as visiting researcher at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, Tijuana México. I hold a Ph.D. in Social Sciences (2019), specialised in Peace and Conflict studies from the University of Tampere, Finland.
My previous academic degrees are in International Relations (Tampere and UNAM, México). My research interests include everyday peace in violent contexts, epistemic violence, politics of representation, and visual politics and border art. I have a research project (2020–2021 Kone Foundation) focused on everyday peace and forms of violence in the main border cities in Baja California, Mexico, and the general conditions at the Mexico–U.S. border. I aim to expand my work with deported persons, activist, and artist in this border region.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing squash with the Tampere team, and meeting with friends.
