I am Ilkhom Khalimzoda. I have stayed in countries like Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkey, and Latvia. I also speak the languages of the countries mentioned. I have worked as an interpreter for a state and non-state institutions. I have the ambition to translate a few books from/to the languages mentioned.
Currently, I am working for my doctoral degree at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. I am examining media preferences, language use and everyday adaptation of the Russian speaking population in Finland and Latvia. I have among others worked on the theory and practice of integration of immigrants, de-radicalization, interfaith and intercultural communication. I have been active in voicing social justice, human rights, and anti-black and white thinking. Humans are more complex than we think.
Being on the Board of ETMU in 2019, I have concentrated more on societal relations. In 2020, I am responsible for ETMU’s membership registry. Apart from that, I will be active in connecting with relevant NGOs and organizing several events.
